Now that my mom has passed and he\u2019s retired, I thought he\u2019d settle down quietly. Instead, he\u2019s doing the exact opposite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"527\" src=\"https:\/\/coolxmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/366.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1521\" srcset=\"https:\/\/coolxmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/366.png 800w, https:\/\/coolxmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/366-300x198.png 300w, https:\/\/coolxmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/366-768x506.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He\u2019s using the proceeds from the shop to buy a brand-new $35,000 Harley, planning a cross-country trip he calls his \u201clast great adventure.\u201d Meanwhile, I\u2019m buried in debt, paying bills, and trying to afford a small condo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Seeing him chase this so-called midlife adventure instead of helping me or investing sensibly is hard to accept. When I bring it up, he just laughs and says, \u201cAt my age, every crisis is an end-of-life crisis.\u201d I can\u2019t fathom how he can blow that much money on himself while I\u2019m struggling to get on my feet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because of this, I had to cancel a Bahamas trip I was planning\u2014money I considered part of my rightful inheritance. My friends think I\u2019m right: parents should do everything they can to support their children financially.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What my dad doesn\u2019t seem to understand is that I still have a future to build, while he has limited time. If he won\u2019t do the responsible thing, I feel ready to claim what should already be mine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He insists the trip is a tribute to my mom, honoring her wish for him to live fully after she passed. But I know she would have wanted me to have that money to start my life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At this point, part of me thinks maybe I should stop expecting anything from him\u2014stop calling, stop caring. But another part still hopes he\u2019ll realize what\u2019s right.
