At the time, she felt fit, healthy, and full of purpose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWhen you get a diagnosis like this\u2026 it\u2019s still really shocking,\u201d she told <em>Nine to Noon<\/em>.<br>\u201cI was riding high \u2014 my book had just been published, I had festival invites and speaking engagements lined up. I felt excited and validated. And then everything was cancelled, and I felt like my identity had been erased.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As she underwent treatment, Lucie began digging deeper into the causes of bowel cancer \u2014 and what she discovered horrified her.
