16-Pound Newborn Stunned the Nation in 1983 — You Won’t Believe What He Looks Like Now

In 1983, Patricia Clarke captured national attention when she gave birth to Kevin Robert Clark at Community Memorial Hospital in New Jersey. Tipping the scales at over 16 pounds, Kevin was believed to be the heaviest newborn ever delivered at the hospital—and quite possibly the largest baby born in the state at that time.

What was just as remarkable as his size was his overall health. Despite his extraordinary birth weight, Kevin arrived happy and in good condition. His unusual birth quickly sparked media interest, with his story featured across news outlets and followed by TV appearances. Kevin even made it onto Good Morning America and had a humorous cameo on Saturday Night Live, becoming part of a broader cultural conversation.

As Kevin got older, so did public fascination. By the age of 12, he was already 5 feet 7 inches tall. By the time he reached junior high, he had grown to 6 feet 5 inches—earning him plenty of playful nicknames and curious questions. Known for his wit, Kevin once joked that he was “five-foot twenty-one,” and when asked if he played basketball, he’d laugh and say, “No, but I dominate miniature golf.”

Today, Kevin is 42 years old and stands an impressive 6 feet 9 inches tall. He lives a quieter, more private life, far removed from the media spotlight that once followed him. A proud military veteran, Kevin now shares his home with his Great Dane and his wife—who is also six feet tall—proving that height definitely runs in the family.
