Wrestling Legend Hulk Hogan Dies at 71 After Complications from Surgery

Fans around the world are mourning the loss of one of professional wrestling’s most iconic figures, Hulk Hogan, who passed away at the age of 71. Born Terry Bollea, Hogan died at his home in Clearwater, Florida, on the morning of July 24, 2025. According to family sources, his death followed unexpected complications during recovery from recent neck surgery.

Hogan had undergone a multi-level cervical fusion, part of a series of surgeries stemming from decades of physical wear and tear in the wrestling ring. Despite his health challenges, those close to the WWE Hall of Famer said he had been in good spirits in recent weeks.

“He was doing phenomenal,” said longtime friend and wrestling manager Jimmy Hart. “None of us saw this coming.”

A Return to the Ring That Never Was
Only weeks before his passing, Hogan had announced a new venture: a wrestling promotion called Real American Freestyle, launched in partnership with former WCW executive Eric Bischoff. The inaugural event was set for August 30 in Cleveland, with fans eagerly anticipating Hogan’s potential special appearance—whether as an on-air personality or mentor.

The news of his sudden passing has left the project and its supporters stunned, as Hogan had appeared energized and excited about this next chapter in his legendary career.
