Prince Al-Waleed bin Khaled bin Talal Al Saud, known as the “Sleeping Prince,” has died at the age of 36. His story touched many hearts, having remained in a coma for over twenty years following a tragic car accident at age 15.
Born in April 1990, Prince Al-Waleed suffered a severe accident in 2005 while studying in London. The crash caused major brain injuries and internal trauma. He was then brought back to Saudi Arabia, where he was cared for at King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh.
From that day forward, the prince stayed in a prolonged coma. Despite his condition, his family—especially his father, Prince Khaled bin Talal Al Saud—stood by him, never losing hope. Prince Khaled, a prominent member of the Saudi royal family and nephew of businessman Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal, decided to maintain life support in the hope his son might one day recover.
Over the years, Prince Khaled often decorated his son’s hospital room to celebrate holidays such as Eid and Saudi National Day. He kept the public informed, and the young prince’s hospital room became a place of quiet reflection, where many visitors came to offer prayers and support.
