A touching photo of an elderly Chinese couple—married for nearly seven decades—holding hands in the intensive care unit has gone viral, capturing hearts around the world.
The image was reportedly taken and shared by Wang Yanfang, head nurse of the ICU at Yinzhou Hospital in Zhejiang Province, eastern China, according to New China.
The husband, Feng Ming, 92, was first admitted to the ICU after suffering heart failure. Sadly, his condition continued to deteriorate—his organs began to fail, and he was later diagnosed with a lung infection.
As his health declined, Feng lost the ability to speak and became reliant on a life support machine to survive.
