Al Roker Suffers On-Air Medical Episode During TODAY Show Broadcast
Longtime TODAY Show weather anchor Al Roker experienced a medical emergency live on air, raising immediate concern among viewers and colleagues. The incident took place around 8:13 a.m. as Roker was delivering his routine weather update.
Midway through the report, Roker appeared briefly disoriented and paused. The broadcast quickly cut away, and crew members rushed in to assist.
Witnesses on set say the 68-year-old television veteran had seemed upbeat earlier that morning. “He was in a great mood before we went live,” one staff member shared. “No one saw this coming, but the team responded right away to make sure he got help.”
Emergency medical personnel were called to the scene and assessed Roker backstage. While NBC has not confirmed whether he was taken to the hospital, sources say he was alert and responsive at the time.
NBC released a short statement following the incident:
“Al Roker is currently receiving medical attention. We appreciate the outpouring of concern and support from our viewers, and we will provide updates as we have them. We respectfully ask for privacy at this time.”
