Chicago, IL — A 52-year-old man from Waukegan, Illinois, has been taken into custody by immigration authorities in connection with an ongoing investigation into a high-profile missing person case.
The suspect, identified as Jose Luis Mendoza-Gonzalez, was originally arrested in April and charged with multiple crimes, including obstruction of justice and concealment of a body. The case is linked to 37-year-old Megan Bos, who was reported missing on March 9. Her family said they last heard from her in February.
According to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), human remains were discovered earlier this year in a storage container located on Mendoza-Gonzalez’s property. Investigators believe the remains had been concealed there for several weeks before being found.
Following his initial arrest, Mendoza-Gonzalez was released after a court appearance in Lake County—a move that sparked criticism from some local officials. However, this past Saturday, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents located and detained him again at a market in Chicago.
He is now being held in federal custody as legal proceedings continue.
