A girl called the police saying her father was trapped under the floor — when officers lifted the floorboards, they discovered something horrifying.

A girl called the police and said her father was beneath the floor: when officers began lifting the floorboards, they uncovered something horrifying.

A strange and disturbing call came into the local police station.

“Hello…” came the faint sobbing voice of a girl, about eight years old. “Please help… my dad is under the floor…”

The duty officer furrowed his brow and exchanged a look with his partner.

“Under the floor? Can you please hand the phone to your mom or dad?”

“Dad hasn’t been home for days. And mom doesn’t believe me, she says I’m making it up. But I know he’s under the floor. He told me himself.”

“Wait…” the officer said, his voice growing more serious. “How did he tell you that if he’s not home?”

“I saw him in a dream,” the girl whispered. “He said he went far away… and is lying under the floor…”

At first, the police chuckled, assuming the child might be struggling mentally and prepared to refer the case to social services. But there was something in her voice—an urgent sincerity—that made them reconsider.

“We’ll take a look, just to be safe,” one officer said. “What if it’s real…”

When they arrived at the house, the girl’s mother greeted them—a tidy, somewhat anxious woman in her forties. Though surprised by the visit, she let them inside. The girl stood quietly beside her, clutching her teddy bear tightly, and pointed to a spot near the living room wall—right beneath the new laminate flooring.

“Where’s your husband?” the officers asked first.

“He’s on a business trip,” the woman replied quickly. “Somewhere else… maybe Serbia? Or Slovenia? I’m not sure. He travels a lot.”

“Can you reach him on the phone?”

“His phone’s dead,” she stammered. “Probably…”

While one officer tried repeatedly and failed to reach the husband by phone, another spoke with the neighbors. No one had seen the man in over a week.

He hadn’t been to work or contacted anyone. Airport records showed no flights booked under his name.

When the police mentioned they wanted to lift a section of the floor, the mother grew defensive.

“We just finished renovating! Do you have any idea how much that cost? Who’s going to pay for this damage?!”

“If nothing is found, the insurance will cover the repairs,” the senior officer replied curtly.

They began prying up the floorboards at the spot the girl had indicated.

Minutes later, a sharp scream pierced the air. One officer recoiled, dropping his crowbar. In the stunned silence that followed came the heavy words:

“We found… a body.”

Beneath the floor, wrapped in construction plastic and partially sealed with expanding foam and concrete, lay the man’s body. There were almost no signs of a struggle. The cause of death appeared to be a single, powerful blow to the temple.

Further investigation confirmed the grim truth: during an argument, the woman had struck her husband with a heavy object. Realizing he was dead, she tried to cover up the crime by hiding the body amid the ongoing renovations.
