Authorities have released disturbing new footage connected to the assassination of Charlie Kirk, revealing the suspect fleeing the scene at Utah Valley University. The conservative commentator, who was in the midst of his “American Comeback Tour,” was fatally shot on Wednesday in front of a large crowd. Investigators are now shedding more light on the shooter’s actions and the extensive manhunt that is currently underway.
The video, made public by officials on Thursday, shows the suspect escaping from the rooftop of a single-story building that overlooked the venue. He is seen running across the roof, leaping down to the ground, and then making his way off-site. One of the most striking aspects of the footage is how composed he appears: after landing, he slows to a walk, casually crosses a nearby street, and vanishes into a wooded area. Along this escape route, authorities later found a high-powered rifle, believed to be the weapon used in the assassination.
Utah Governor Spencer Cox, speaking at a press briefing, condemned the gunman as an “evil human being” and emphasized the urgency of bringing him to justice.
