Father Allegedly Kills Family in Apparent Murder-Suicide on Son’s Graduation Day

On May 10, the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office discovered four bodies inside a lakeside home in Nebraska.

Authorities believe Jeremy Koch, 42, fatally shot his wife, Bailey Koch, and their two sons, Hudson, 18, and Asher, 16, before taking his own life in what is being treated as an apparent murder-suicide.

According to reports, Jeremy had struggled with depression since 2009 and had attempted suicide multiple times over the years. Bailey had even created a GoFundMe campaign to help support his treatment. “May is Mental Health Awareness Month, so here we are… making you aware,” she reportedly wrote. She described his condition worsening over time, stating, “Jeremy cannot get out of bed unless forced. By not eating or drinking, Jeremy is slowly completing suicide.”

His mental health reportedly deteriorated further in March, when Bailey awoke to find him standing over her bed with a knife, telling her, “Something is wrong.” She managed to persuade him to undergo a round of electroconvulsive therapy, though it ultimately provided little relief.
