What started as a joyful summer day on the water quickly turned into a heartbreaking moment for a Florida family—one that would also highlight the remarkable bravery of a young girl.
On Tuesday, June 24, 11-year-old Jordan Roe was enjoying a family get-together at Star Lake, near the border of Putnam and Alachua Counties. The day was filled with barbecuing and tubing—simple pleasures meant to bring everyone closer under the warm sun.
Known to her family as the “protector,” Jordan was accompanied by her 8-year-old cousin Laila and 9-year-old Brylee, another young relative, as they were being pulled behind a Sea-Doo jet ski. Suddenly, tragedy struck when the watercraft hit a dock, throwing all three children into the water, local reports say.
While Brylee suffered minor injuries and Laila was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, Jordan tragically lost her life.
Loved ones remember Jordan’s last moments as a true act of selflessness. Her family believes her swift bravery was crucial in saving Laila during the accident. “Jordan gave her all for her cousin,” one relative shared. “She was always the one watching over everyone.”
