A normally quiet neighborhood near Hickory, North Carolina, was rocked by violence early Sunday morning after a shooting erupted at a large house party in Mountain View, leaving one person dead and at least eleven others injured.
The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were called to a home on Walnut Acres Drive around 12:45 a.m. after reports of gunfire and multiple victims. What they encountered was a fast-moving, chaotic scene that quickly expanded beyond the property itself.
According to investigators, the party had drawn around 100 people, including children. At some point, multiple shots were fired outside the residence. Witnesses told authorities gunfire occurred in both the front and back yards, and bullets also struck a neighboring property, widening the scope of the investigation.
