A peaceful Tuesday night in Grão Mogol, in northern Minas Gerais, turned into a heartbreaking tragedy when a van and a truck collided head-on along the BR-251 highway. What began as a routine drive ended in devastation, leaving nine people dead and twelve others injured in one of the region’s worst recent road accidents.

According to the Civil Police of Minas Gerais (PCMG), the crash occurred when a truck reportedly crossed the center line at high speed, colliding directly with a passenger van carrying workers returning home to Ceará. Investigators believe fatigue may have been a contributing factor, though the full cause is still under investigation.
“It was likely driver exhaustion,” said forensic expert Hugo Leonardo. “The tire marks and collision patterns show clear evidence that the truck veered into the opposite lane.”
