Jane Fonda, the 83-year-old activist, found herself back in the spotlight after former Trump aide Stephen Miller unleashed a sharp critique of her Vietnam War-era actions during a heated Fox News interview. Miller didn’t hold back, calling her protests “treasonous” and insisting that her controversial decisions decades ago should never be forgotten.
During the segment, Miller revisited Fonda’s 1972 trip to North Vietnam, spotlighting the radio broadcasts in which she criticized the U.S. military, the infamous photo of her next to an anti-aircraft gun, and her symbolic wearing of a Vietnamese soldier’s helmet. These actions, he argued, earned her the nickname “Hanoi Jane,” a moniker that still sparks strong reactions among U.S. veterans. Miller questioned whether Fonda, despite her decades of activism, should continue to be regarded as a hero given these past actions.
