As political disputes intensify and wars continue in different regions of the world, many people are wondering what such a scenario could mean for everyday life—including safety within the United States.
During an interview with Time, Donald Trump acknowledged that conflicts between nations always carry risks. He noted that when countries enter wars, uncertainty and potential loss of life are realities governments must prepare for.
His comments came amid heightened tensions involving Iran and the United States, alongside ongoing conflicts in several regions.
Rising Global Concerns
In recent years, global leaders have openly discussed the possibility that regional conflicts could expand if diplomatic solutions fail.
For example, Volodymyr Zelensky, president of Ukraine, has previously suggested that the conflict sparked by Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine could have wider international consequences if tensions continue to escalate.
Public opinion surveys also show that many people share these concerns.
A recent international poll conducted by YouGov across several European countries found that between 41% and 55% of respondents believe another global war could occur within the next decade. In the United States, roughly 45% of Americans said they think a major conflict is possible in the coming years.
One of the biggest fears associated with any future world war is the potential use of nuclear weapons. In the same survey, 68% to 76% of participants said they believe nuclear arms would likely be used if such a conflict occurred.
