Amy Schumer has humorously claimed that John Cena was “literally inside her” during the filming of an intimate scene for the movie Trainwreck.
In the 2015 romantic comedy, Schumer plays a free-spirited, commitment-averse woman named Amy, who ends up in various romantic entanglements — one of which is with Cena’s character, Steven, a gym-obsessed boyfriend.
One of the film’s standout scenes involves a highly exaggerated, over-the-top bedroom moment between the two. Both actors have opened up about filming the scene in interviews over the years.
While speaking on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast, Cena shared what it was like to shoot the now-famous moment. He explained that the filmmakers initially told him his role would include scripted dialogue, but that quickly changed.
“They told me, ‘We’re going to do a sex scene, and it’s going to be wild and physical — more like a stunt performance than a regular scene,’” Cena recalled. “Amy was amazing; she made everything feel really comfortable.”
Despite being used to performing in front of huge live audiences from his WWE career, Cena admitted that filming a sex scene was a totally different experience.
“What people don’t realize is, it’s not just the two of you in there,” he said. “There’s a whole crew behind the scenes watching everything. It’s a very exposed, awkward process.”
