Trump’s Health Faces Renewed Scrutiny as 2024 Election Approaches: Political Tactics or Genuine Concern?

As former President Donald Trump presses ahead with his bid for a second term, discussions about his capability to serve have resurfaced in the national conversation—not just politically, but also in terms of his physical and mental condition. Now in his late 70s and preparing for another demanding campaign season, some within the GOP are voicing growing concerns about his ability to lead for another four years.

One of the most outspoken critics is veteran Republican strategist Rick Wilson, co-founder of the Lincoln Project. In a recent interview with Times Radio, Wilson raised doubts about Trump’s mental acuity, suggesting that the former president has exhibited an increasing pattern of cognitive slips and fragmented speech.

“He struggles to maintain a coherent thought,” Wilson remarked. “His speeches are filled with erratic transitions and peculiar phrasing. These aren’t just minor errors—they point to something more serious.”

Wilson highlighted what he described as “verbal aphasias”—interruptions in speech and understanding that could be indicative of neurological deterioration. Trump’s detractors have pointed to instances of mispronounced names, incomplete statements, and bouts of confusion during public appearances.
