The couple now lives in the picturesque Cotswolds, a region known for its peaceful countryside, charming stone homes, and celebrity neighbors. At 67, DeGeneres often posts calming glimpses of her new environment, from local sheep roaming near her property to the serene views she now enjoys daily.
Motivated by a Shift in Perspective
During an appearance at the Everyman Theatre in Cheltenham, DeGeneres spoke about her decision to relocate. “We arrived just a day before the election,” she said, referring to the 2024 U.S. presidential vote. “The next morning, we got messages from friends and realized things had changed. We looked at each other and said, ‘We’re not leaving.’”
What began as a part-time retreat quickly turned into a full-time residence. When asked whether the political atmosphere in the U.S. played a role in their decision, she answered simply, “Yes.” A theatre representative later confirmed her remark.
