Just hours before, everything had shifted—his dog bed abandoned on the curb, a few snacks tossed nearby, and the vehicle he had trusted for years disappearing into the darkness.

Lost but still clinging to hope, he tried to chase after them, but his tired, aging legs couldn’t carry him far.
