Sally Field, one of the most admired and cherished actresses in Hollywood, has enchanted viewers for years with her range and heartfelt performances. Now 76, she remains remarkable with recent appearances in shows like Winning Time and Dispatches from Elsewhere. However, in a recent conversation, the two-time Academy Award winner gave fans an unexpected peek behind the curtain—by revealing a memorable and surprising moment from her time on set.

While appearing on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Sally Field was asked about her most uncomfortable on-screen kiss. Laughing and initially reluctant, she teased, “Should I really say who it was?” After some encouragement from the host, she eventually admitted that her least pleasant kiss happened during a scene with none other than Burt Reynolds—a surprising admission, considering they were not just co-stars but also romantically involved for several years in the late 1970s.

Pressed for more insight, Field explained that although their off-screen connection was often viewed as intense, it didn’t always come across that way during filming. “It just didn’t work for me when the cameras were rolling,” she said. “It wasn’t what people might assume.”

The two famously appeared together in Smokey and the Bandit, a classic film of its time. While their relationship was widely publicized back then, Field has been open in recent years about the more complicated side of their bond. In an earlier conversation with Variety, she revealed that they hadn’t spoken in the final decades of Reynolds’ life. “He wasn’t someone I could be around,” she stated plainly, highlighting the significance of protecting one’s own emotional health.
