After reading the backlash, a police officer stepped in to clarify:
“This is a positive post, but some people just can’t see the bigger picture. As an officer, I never expect or want anything free—uniform or not. Most of us feel the same way. We don’t like ‘special treatment.’
“KFC isn’t giving us perks—we’re being acknowledged for what we do. And to those saying other first responders should also be recognized? Absolutely. They deserve it too.”
Police officers dedicate their lives to keeping communities safe, often putting themselves in harm’s way to protect ordinary citizens. Their service is a cornerstone of public wellbeing, and gestures like this are a simple way to show appreciation.
